Friday CSR: Warm Smiles at Masjid Negeri with Ice Tea Peach Mengkudu

Seremban, 26 July 2024 — the warmth of a Friday at Masjid Negeri was brightened by a corporate social responsibility programme organised by Puan Hajah Nazatul Azlin, better known as Puan Olin, and the team from OBSB. Built around giving and sharing, we at OBSB were glad to bring a little good to the community by handing out Ice Tea Peach Mengkudu free to the congregants who came for Friday prayers.

Ice Tea Peach Mengkudu is a powdered fruit drink rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. One of the main ingredients in the Ice Tea Peach formulation is mengkudu extract, a herb long known and used in local practice. It makes for a refreshing drink and, we think, a better choice than an ordinary cordial carrying only artificial flavour and colour. With it, we wanted to offer people something a little better without losing the taste or the refreshment.

The day was hot, but it did nothing to dampen the spirits of the OBSB team. We kept at it, and the smiles on the faces of congregants waiting their turn for an Ice Tea Peach Mengkudu made it worth doing. From small children beaming with delight to adults grinning broadly, the atmosphere gave a satisfaction that is hard to put into words. Some smiled as though they had been handed a gift, and we know this will stay a warm memory.

The drinks were handed out at random, and the response was thoroughly encouraging. We did not stop at the drinks either — we also helped tidy the shoes the congregants had left outside the mosque. It is a small form of community service, and we believe it is worth continuing, because a little effort to make other people comfortable can go a long way.

When the programme was over we returned to the OBSB outlet in good spirits. We were tired, but it was the good kind of tiredness, because we knew we had brought a little good to a community that welcomed it. We were proud, too, of the warmth we were shown in return. The experience reminded us that whatever good we give, however small, still leaves its mark. That is what motivates us to keep running CSR programmes in future.

We at OBSB believe that good should be spread without limit, and through programmes like this one we can get closer to the community around us. Thank you to everyone who welcomed us and joined in. May we meet again at the programmes to come, and may this spirit of giving and sharing keep growing among us all.
